Lucknow’s acclaimed Hazratganj Chauraha has been renamed as “Atal Chowk” in the memory of the previous leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
“On the principal demise commemoration of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Hazratganj Chowk has been renamed after him as “Atal Chowk” from August 16,” read blurb set up at the chowk.
“Various councilors were requesting various streets and roundabouts be named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia was cited as saying by news organization ANI.
The city hall leader said they were searching for something stupendous enough to fit the stature of the previous PM, so it was chosen that most conspicuous and greatest convergence of Lucknow – Hazratganj Chaurha.
“As the Mayor of the city, we have arranged a draft for building up a commemoration for him – Atal Smriti Upvan. In this remembrance, we intend to put his statue alongside his 51 ballads, talks and other memorabilia. We have just begun a procedure for distinguishing land for this remembrance,” she said.
A year ago, a few states declared to rename a few places after Mr. Vajpayee to respect the pioneer.
The Chhattisgarh Government had renamed Naya Raipur as Atal Nagar. Additionally, the BJP-ruled state likewise chose to rename a couple of different spots and organizations after his name.
The Jharkhand government likewise renamed a few spots and schools after Mr. Vajpayee’s name. Sahibganj Harbor was renamed as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Harbor Sahibganj. Restorative College Palamu and Professional College Jamshedpur were renamed as Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College, Palamu and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Professional College, Jamshedpur separately. The eight-path street from Government of India working to Kako Math in Dhanbad area was named as Atal Marg.
